April 10, 2018Statement About “Nuisance Bill” Signing
Following today’s bill signing of the Manufacturer Liability Protection Act (H. 3653), Katie Busbee, the Upstate Chamber Coalition’s Legislative Director, issued the following statement:
“The Greenville Chamber’s vision is a globally competitive Upstate economy where businesses succeed and people prosper. This legislation pushes that vision forward.
“The Upstate led our state’s advanced manufacturing movement. Over the past four decades, tens of thousands of manufacturing jobs from the world’s most prestigious companies were created in plants miles from Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson.
“In 2016, Greenville was the fastest-growing city east of Texas, and we’ve seen the countryside and farms around these plants quickly become subdivisions for new residents from around the world – people seeking our highly-paid, advanced manufacturing jobs. This critical legislation provides certainty to these companies so they may drive our state’s economy into the future.
“Thank you to Rep. Mike Forrester (R-Spartanburg) for championing this legislation and all of the Representatives and Senators who voted in favor of manufacturing jobs. Thank you to Governor McMaster for signing this into law today.”
