Meet the Team: Catherine Demaret

My name is Catherine Demaret and I am a current junior at Clemson University. I am from Schaumburg, IL, one of the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I have lived in or around the city my whole life and my whole family is made up of huge Chicago sports fans. (Editor’s note: YES!) I have three sisters and one brother, and I am the second oldest of my siblings. My older sister Madelyn is a current senior at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. studying political science, and my step-sister Delaney is my age, and she attends esthetician school in Chicago. My younger brother Tommy is a freshman at Clemson this year, and he is studying industrial engineering and minoring in business, and my youngest sister Delaney (yes, I have two sisters named Delaney, it was a very weird coincidence) is a junior in high school. Since we are all so close in age, we spent all of our time together growing up, and my siblings are some of my best friends.

I am studying Philosophy with an emphasis in Law, Liberty and Justice, and double majoring in Women’s Leadership. I plan on graduating from undergrad in December of 2019, before obtaining my Masters in Management in May or August of 2020 through Clemson. After that, I hope to attend law school and obtain my JD. Ideally, I would love to go to Northwestern Law School, where my grandpa and aunt both attended.

Previously, I have interned for the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, the Office of the Public Defender in Chicago, and the March of Dimes. All three brought me valuable experience in vastly different fields, and are helping me shape my future career path. Currently, I also work as an Athletic tutor for Clemson Athletic Academic Services, focusing on general education and humanities requirements.

One of the best parts of my college experience so far has been being a Tiger Dancer. I have traveled to 9 states, performed in 11 college and NFL stadiums, been to 3 ACC championships, danced at 3 college football playoff games, and of course, 2 national championships. The experience has been way more than I could have ever asked for, and I am so excited for my senior season to begin!

I am very excited to be working at the Chamber this semester, and can’t wait to see what this position has in store for me.
