  1. Governor McMaster delivers annual State of the State Address. The Governor delivered his fifth State of the State address on Wednesday, asking the legislature to spend their largest amount of surplus funds and federal money on bold investments, and take on many UCC priorities.
  2. What Senator Harvey Peeler’s new finance role means for SC, the Senate. After the passing of Hugh Leatherman in November 2021, Senator Harvey Peeler has taken over as the new Financial Chairman of the South Carolina Senate. Lawmakers and residents alike will be paying attention to see how Peeler handles this new and highly regarded position.
  3. Snow blankets Greenville after biggest winter storm in years. Snowmageddon hit the Upstate hard on Sunday, breaking our daily maximum snowfall record – GSP international airport saw a daily record 6.5″! The previous record of 5.7″ was set in 1965.
  4. New Government Website for Ordering Covid Tests Is Up and Running With the help of the US Postal Service, the Biden administration has launched its website allowing public access to Covid-19 testing kits, free of charge. Each household can request up to four tests through this new service.
  5. Wednesday’s news conference is a rare event for Biden On the eve of his first anniversary in office, President Joe Biden will be holding his first solo press conference in almost 10 months. This conference will act as a reset and recharge for the Biden administration after a steady decline in his approval ratings.
